Working From Home? Move to the Beach?

If working from home has you rethinking about where you want to live, you are not alone. Zillow recently conducted a survey in which they report about 75% of Americans who are now working from home, would continue to do so if they are allowed to when their work reopens at full capacity. – I’m guessing these people haven’t been temporarily home schooling during the lockdown! 😉

When people have more time on their hands and begin to question their long commutes to the office in the big cities, without a job to anchor them in place, their dreams begin to grow. “If I could do my work from home, and I could live anywhere, where would that be?”  My observations during the Covid-19 lockdown are that many people who own a beach home (or condo) on 30A, as a second home or rental property, have been residing at their beach home. It’s truly where they want to spend time. Not surprising, Zillow’s study results show that of the 75% of the workforce who want to continue working from home, 66% of them would consider moving if allowed to continue to work from home. 

For Walton County Florida, home to 30A, we have seen tremendous growth of full time residents in the last 3 years. Studies indicate that we could see those numbers continue to grow in the next 5 years, potentially making our area more of a full time community, than it has traditionally been. If we do see more people moving to beach if employees are allowed to continue to work from home, maybe even for half of their time, I think we could see an even greater increase if full time residents moving to the Greater30A area. Time will tell, but don’t be surprised if it happens.
