FloridaTrend Magazine Names Rosemary Beach as Florida’s 2nd Wealthiest Town in Florida for 2012
by Murray Balkcom, GRI, Realtor, Broker – According to FloridaTrend magazine (April 2013), the little beach town of Rosemary Beach, nestled on the eastern end of 30A in South Walton, was named as the second wealthiest zip code in the state of Florida for 2012. Fisher Island was ranked #1 wealthiest zipcode.
Some of you may recall Forbes magazine article written a few years ago, listing Fisher Island, FL as the number one foreclosure town amongst the wealthiest zip codes in the USA. Rosemary Beach, at least according to Forbes (which I believe to be inaccurate according to real data), ranked number 3 on that foreclosure list.
Foreclosures are down and we are seeing increases in prices in some pockets of the Emerald Coast of Florida. Buyers are finding less inventory, the lowest levels in six years, and buyers are beginning to compete with multiple offers on some properties.
February 2013 home sales in South Walton were at the highest level ever on record compared to all other years both in quantity sold and dollar volume. “It’s like someone turned the off switch back on,” according to one buyer.
In 2013, Feb home sales in South Walton increased 29% in total sold volume over Feb 2012.
How does Rosemary Beach home sales compare to all of South Walton? For February 2013, Rosemary Beach home sales jumped 79% in total dollar volume and 100% in quantity sold, compared to Feb 2012.
